Free paycheck splitter for envelope budgets
Divide one paycheck into envelopes until every dollar has a job.
Start from a template, then edit:
| Envelope | Amount | Share |
|---|
Everything is computed in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is saved when you close the tab.
How to use the splitter
- Type the income you will receive for this pay period (after tax).
- Start from a template and rename or remove rows to match your life.
- Fill amounts until Left to assign is $0.00.
- Copy the plan into a note, print it, or set it up in an app. The envelope budgeting guide explains the reasoning.
Starting percentages
The Essentials template is a starting point based on a mid-cost-of-living household: about a third to housing, a sixth to groceries, and over a quarter to savings in the form of an emergency fund. Costs differ widely by city and family size, so treat the percentages as a sketch and replace them with your own history. The 50/30/20 template is a classic rule of thumb: half to needs, thirty percent to wants and twenty percent to savings and debt repayment.
Once your plan feels right, Sealed turns it into envelopes with a daily safe-to-spend pace, and the sinking fund calculator sizes the savings rows.
FAQ
Is my income stored or uploaded?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and has no server component.
Should I use gross or net income?
Net income, the money that actually lands in your account. Taxes and payroll deductions are already gone.
What if my income varies?
Plan with the lowest recent month and treat the extra as a bonus to assign when it arrives.
